Mr João Lobão (haha) graced us with his presence in our little city Pelotas recently. Moises and he are friends because of the lyrics (2) Moises sold to him years ago. When we found out he was coming, despite his very busy scedule, Moises got back in contact with him. Before there was clarification that Lobão would put aside free tickets for us, he had already hit the road for his tour. The morning of his performance Moises gets a phone call from his friend Diego who works at the theatre saying he was instructed to inform us that two tickets were put aside for Moises. Diego found this very mysterious as he wasn't aware that Moises and Lobão were friends. Moises went to pick up the tickets (which wasn't really necessary as our names were on the door) and was met with pleas for help. The producer and the band were already there and needed to find the right amps for the show, which the theatre didn't have. Diego, instead of greeting Moises (you know: hi, how you going?) Said "Moises, where can they find an amp?" and so with his contacts, referred them to his friend Vincent. called etc. And then walked the producer to a suggested restaurant to have dinner. And so, we arrive that night, VIP, straight through the door, sit wherever is vacant with other friend Christovo and girlfriend. The concert was amazing, mainly rock, but as Lobão saw Moises in the audience, played both his songs! I was so excited and proud I nearly told the girl in the public toilets, in very bad Portuguse "My boyfriend wrote this song". But she was gone by the time I got out. Show finishes and we meet the producer that Moises helped out earlier, who takes us directly back stage. I met the man himself! Lovely guy, really gentle and friendly, despite his perceived pessona on his MTV programme.
Pre- Lobão concert
Lobão's producer
Three crazy cats
Rocking out!
I see you! haha At the time we were on the balcony near the stage but the sound was terrible up there so we moved downstairs.
First question Lobão asked me after we met was "are you embarrassed to think back on music that you use to like?" The embarrassing part was telling him that I use to like Hansan haha
It was great back stage, the producer, Lobão and some of the band spoke English so I could participate in the conversations going on. We were invited back to the hotel for pizza but we were getting tired.
A girl I met outside looked confused when she came to get an autograph and photo and saw me talking to the guitarist from the band and chilling out backstage. Yeah I felt kinda cool :)
Anyway that's enough blah blah blah after two glasses of red wine. mmmm
Here re the links to the two songs, lyrics written by Moises
Translates to "you and a dark night"
This song is Moises giving it to the French (even though he was born in France)
Another band did a cover of this song, cool huh? :)
